Project Overview

A strategic project management case study focused on planning a dual-format coupon incentive program for ACME Company. The initiative combines traditional print marketing with digital coupon integration to strengthen customer loyalty and create a more accessible shopping experience.

Working within a proposed $1.3 million budget and seven-month timeline, the project required coordinating creative production, UX/UI design, technical development, and stakeholder approvals.

The Challenge

ACME Company needed a customer-focused incentive program targeting shoppers aged 48–62 across its Great Lakes stores. The challenge was delivering printed coupons within three months while planning a digital coupon experience for the company's existing mobile app and website within five to seven months.

Project Strategy

The proposed approach combined structured production planning for printed coupons with iterative Agile development for the digital experience.

The print workstream followed a sequential schedule to support final approvals, vendor coordination, quality assurance, and distribution. The digital workstream emphasized user stories, wireframing, interactive prototypes, usability testing, technical integration, and feedback-driven improvements.

Planning & Execution

The project plan outlined two parallel workstreams, including task assignments, dependencies, milestones, stakeholder reviews, and delivery expectations.

A nine-person agency team supported the proposed execution, with responsibilities spanning creative direction, UX research, design, project management, and web development.

Success Metrics

The project established measurable targets to evaluate performance:

  • 20% printed coupon redemption within the first month

  • 15% digital coupon redemption within the first month

  • 25% digital feature engagement among app users within three months

  • 3 months for printed coupon delivery

  • 5–7 months for digital integration

Key Takeaway

This case study demonstrates how project planning can balance creative objectives, technical requirements, financial constraints, and customer needs. By selecting appropriate delivery methods for different workstreams, the proposed strategy provides a structured foundation for managing a complex, cross-functional initiative.
